Scrap Metal Rooster

I designed this rooster for a hard surface assignment in college. My initial inspiration was to recreate the dynamic forms of a rooster out of scrap metal but, since I had apparently not spent quite enough time in junk yards, hardware stores, and other locations where such forms are cultivated, the design quickly leaned towards elegant curves and interlocking plates. I began by sketching over top of photos of roosters and slowly developed enough pieces with just the right amount of detail to settle on a final design. The finished piece is still one of my favorites, though there are many ways in which I may have improved it.

At some point I experimented with contour renders to display the model's wireframe and decided that I rather liked the design in that form as well.
